The Yukon Avalanche Association, a not-for-profit organization, was formed in 2010 to promote avalanche safety and awareness among backcountry users. Since 2011, the YAA partnered with Avalanche Canada to deliver an avalanche forecast for the White Pass, and each year delivered public outreach events. The YAA also developed Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale (ATES) maps, brochures and roadside signage for the White Pass and Haines Summit regions, as well as a detailed terrain atlas.

As of 2024 the YAA is on an indefinite hiatus.
